Media independence and freedom of press are among the most important cornerstone of Hong Kong’s success. However, since the handover, there have been continuous concerns over the erosion of these fundamental values and key competitive advantages of Hong Kong, and a considerable number of allegations of self-censorship. In particular, the recent report submitted by the Committee on Review of Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) and the upcoming consultation over PSB and the future fate of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) will have significant impacts on the future of media and press freedom in Hong Kong. Our ITAG2 (Media and Press Freedom) will examine this and other issues that will be critical in defending the core values of Hong Kong’s society.
